Biometric Verification for Vehicle Transfers Goes Digital via Pak-Identity App

In a major move toward digital governance and citizen convenience, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially launched online biometric verification for vehicle ownership transfers in Sindh. The new facility is available through the Pak-Identity App, allowing buyers and sellers to complete identity verification from home without visiting NADRA offices or e-facilitation centers.
The initiative has been rolled out in collaboration with the Government of Sindh and builds on reforms already introduced by the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department, which made biometric verification mandatory to curb fraud in vehicle transactions.
What Has Changed?
Previously, biometric verification was compulsory but required physical visits to NADRA registration or facilitation centers. With the new update:
- Buyers and sellers can now verify biometrics digitally using the Pak-Identity App
- Verification can be completed anytime, anywhere
- Only the remaining paperwork needs to be completed at the excise office
Officials say the move will significantly reduce delays, overcrowding, and fraudulent transfers, especially in major cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur.
Why Biometric Verification Matters
Vehicle transfers have long been vulnerable to:
- Fake sellers or forged CNICs
- Disputed ownership claims
- Legal complications after sale
By linking transfers directly with NADRA’s biometric database, authorities ensure that only the legitimate buyer and seller can authorize a transaction, making the process safer and legally sound.
