Basant Kite Flying Tragedy 3 Dead and Dozens Injured in Lahore

Fatal accidents during Basant celebrations

At least three people lost their lives and more than 24 were injured during Basant celebrations in Lahore, where kite flying turned deadly. Rescue officials reported several accidents linked to chasing cut kites and unsafe rooftop activities.

A 25-year-old man died after receiving an electric shock near Sukh Nehar while trying to catch a kite. In another incident, an 18-year-old youth fell from a rooftop in Baghbanpura and died on the spot. A 35-year-old man also died after falling into a street during kite flying.

These incidents have once again raised concerns about Basant kite flying safety and the risks linked to the festival.

Multiple injuries reported across the city

Rescue sources confirmed that several others suffered serious injuries. In Sabzazar, a father, uncle, and nephew were badly injured after coming into contact with electric wires while chasing a kite. They were rushed to Jinnah Hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities say many injuries occur due to unsafe rooftops and exposure to live wires. Despite repeated warnings, kite flying accidents continue to cause harm each year.

Officials are urging citizens to follow safety guidelines and avoid dangerous actions during celebrations. The latest Lahore Basant incidents highlight the urgent need for stricter enforcement and public awareness to prevent further tragedies.
